If you're not a penguins or sabres fan, do you even care?
Seriously. I'll watch cause the pens are in it and we get their
network where I live, so I watch most of their games, but I rarely
watch games that don't involve rangers or penguins.

I watched the Edmonton game and I'll watch this one, as I don't have
other plans for the day. I wouldn't rearrange social events to be able
to see it, but it's a cool idea. I'm looking forward to it.

I guess the snow is a nice effect, outside of that it's just another
hockey game to watch.

Are the dimensions of the rink smaller? Maybe it's the camera angle.

I can't wait to see the ratings for this thing up against 10 college
bowl games.

I'm sure the lighting has a lot to do with it. It just looks like the
area behind the net is smaller for some reason, especially between the
goaltender off-limits zones.

My favorite part of today is the occasional player wearing the eye
black for the glare.

Yeah, it's a gimmick, but i think it's something the league has to do.
They need to sell the roots of the sport and the history, especially,
if they are going to attract the casual fan that wouldn't know either
team jersey if they were hit in the head with it.

This sport needs all the help it can get and right now, i think this
is a great day for hockey. I've got the feeling to take a hose to my
back patio right now and play!

That is the only potential downside, but since the snow stopped, it
should be alot better. That 1st 5 minutes looked like they were
skating through sand.

I think it's an optical illusion caused by how far back the stands are.
The stadium is so big that it makes the rink look smaller.

I want to give a shout out to my man Ryan Miller who might as well not
even be in net on shootouts.

Way to go Ryan!

Regulation rink, but they talked about that before the game on CBC. The
players noted that not only did look smaller, it felt smaller.

I understand and appreciate your point, believe me you're not the only
kid to ever play on a flooded tennis court in the middle of winter.
Yes that's what we used to do, that's all we had.
But this is a gimmick and I'm too cynical to go apeshit over gimmicks.

As a fan of the NHL I hope the game is a big success and in fact my

it then the game itself.

Hopefully this game isn't a torn up knee or ankle from being a
diaster.

Seems that the snow has stopped.

That was the plan - half of the US waking up with hangovers thinking
they're watching football instead of hockey. They're banking on
everyone watching the game before they sober up.
