Long story short, my in-laws know one of the penalty-box timekeepers. He
was working the game last night, and my wife was watching. Vile gossip
follows:

Heatley accidentally spat on his jacket during his penalty, apologized
profusely, and started mopping up the damage with a towel. Our friend
the timekeeper: "you don't have rabies, do you?"

After Neil and Hordichuk fought and ended up in the box, they had a
genuinely friendly chat. Apparently one of them just had a new baby, and
the Sens were staying at the Pan Pacific last night, so Darcy promised
to swing by to visit.

Always wondered who those poor men were and what they must hear,
especially if the fracas continues into the penalty box.

Funny stuff. Thanks for the post and feel free to share more of the
vile gossip if you get it. ;)

Cool - this is pretty close to the famous fly in the wall, isn't it?

Inneresting. I got the sense watching the game that they were kibitzing in
their respective boxes. There is a code and they both follow it.

It is like those cartoons with the wolf and the sheepdog. They are
professionally hostile but otherwise amiable.

It's also true that there are definitely guys who continue the fight
into the boxes, and are personally angry at each other. But it appears
both Neil and Hordichuk are veterans, and have been in the league for a
fairly long time.

Reinforcing my idea for an alternate audio channel for games.
I'd pay for sure.

As I'm reminded after watching Frost/Nixon, if there was an audio
channel, it wouldn't be the same.
