1. The people. Living in the South the past couple years, I have grown
accustomed to people with manners. Everyone in Detroit is the center of
the universe. Just ask them.
2. The weather. The summers there are just as bad as they are here as
far as heat and humidity. But in the winter here, I typically wore a
pair of khakis and a hoody. In Detroit, well, we all know what a Detroit
winter is like.
3. Hockey. Sounds weird, I know. Here, nobody talks about hockey unless
you go somewhere and seek it out. In Detroit, at least when I lived
there before, if I wear a hockey jersey, someone's going to strike up a
conversation with me about hockey, and they are all clueless imbeciles.
Most of the people I went to college with knew me as the guy who had an
absolutely obsessive interest in hockey who never talked about it and
they would never ask me to go to a game because they knew I wouldn't go
with them. I am not interested in having a face-to-face discussion with
anyone about hockey unless they know the sport at least as well as I do.
And I can honestly say that this has only happened twice in my life, and
that was at a time where I didn't know anywhere near as much about it as
I do now.
There are obviously some huge positives to the move, but that's not the
point.

Yeah, and you wouldn't want to move a cat to Singapore anyway. They'd
probably be pretty tasty though.

Wow...that is off-the-charts wrong. Allowing that I am a decent person
(obv), and that makes all of my friends decent people, you only need 9
more decent people in the entire area to prove you wrong!
Misanthrope!

Never the same one twice though, I bet.
I think they have a catch and release policy there. They have to be a
certain size before you can eat the street cats there.

Even if the above were true, and one would only need to find nine more
to prove me wrong, and given that my family lives in the area, I still
think you'd be hard pressed to find the twelve it would take.
BTW, I got your humor. Very funny, actually. I bet half the people here
didn't catch it though.
