Staal, Dubinsky, Callahan and Girardi. Pretty cool to start a season with
that many rookies. Nice to have that kind of young depth. Especially when
you put yourself into such a cap situation where you need inexpensive
quality depth to be successful.
Normally 2 rookie defensemen on a roster is scary. But the way Girardi
played last season and the fact that no matter how shaky Staal might be at
the start, he can't possibly make more mistakes than Malik and Rozy, it
makes it a little more comforting. Girardi and Staal have the potential to
be with this team for some time. >> Stay informed about: 4 rookies on the roster |

GIradi and Callahan are only technical rookies ... they are
experienced grizzled playoff vets in reality ... >> Stay informed about: 4 rookies on the roster |

The current standard for the Calder Trophy is no more than 25 games.
The Devils Andy Greene only played in 23 games last year, so he's
still a rookie.
Girardi played in 34. He can't win the Calder, so I believe that
doesn't make him technically a rookie but he certainly isn't a
veteran, either.

Is Girardi really considered a rookie? How many games do you have to
play for it to be considered your rookie season? >> Stay informed about: 4 rookies on the roster |
