Well by not being able to do anything, this to me provides some
clarity about the future of Marleau and Campbell.

Not being able to move Marleau for a high 1st round pick, that most
likely means for the Sharks "No Soup for You"

There's really no reason to expect Marleau being traded for picks, if
one subscribes to the premise that the Sharks look at themselves as #2
in the entire NHL and needing a piece or two, NOW, not later, to get
over the hump.

Unless I'm mistaken, the Sharks have ample cap room to sign Campbell,
so the real issue will be whether they think he's worth whatever the
price may be. If the Sharks are insistent on dumping salary, for
whatever reason, they can certainly make trades, Marleau included, at
just about any time.

In the end, for the Sharks, it's all about how much money they want to
spend, how they want to spend it and how badly they really want to win.
