ISLANDERS ORANGE AND BLUE REVIEW January 31

AN ALL-STAR WEEKEND
While Islanders fans may have seen Rick DiPietro stop nearly everything that
came his way on Sunday as he turned aside 15 of 16 shots against the game's
most talented stars, there were also three other members of the Islanders
organization competing in their respective All-Star weekends.
Jeff Tambellini As the AHL's leading goal scorer, it was no surprise that
Jeff Tambellini was chosen to participate in his second AHL All-Star Game.
Tambellini represented the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on the Canadian All-Star
squad, facing the American side.
The Canadians won 9-8 in a shootout thanks to Tambellini's game-tying goal
with under six minutes remaining. His goal made it an 8-8 game, sending the
contest into overtime and then a shootout. Los Angeles Kings prospect Teddy
Purcell scored the clincher in the shootout for his fourth goal of the
game.
Tambellini, the league's leading goal scorer with 26 tallies, was paired
with Norfolk Admiral Justin Keller and San Antonio Rampage forward Joey
Tenute for most of the game.
A day earlier, Tambellini took part in the AHL Skills Competition. He
participated in three events, including the fastest skater competition,
where he placed second. In the rapid fire drill, Tambellini scored on two
of five shots, and in the breakaway relay, Tambellini was stopped.

at the All-Star Skills Competition.
Jason Gregoire and Blake Kessel Two 2007 Islanders draft picks, forward
Jason Gregoire (third round - 76th overall) and defenseman Blake Kessel
(sixth round - 166th overall) took part in the USHL Prospects/All-Star
Game.
The Kessel-lead East team defeated Gregoire and the West 6-5 in a shootout.
Kessel tallied a goal in regulation for the East, while Gregoire was
stopped on his shootout attempt for the West.
Gregoire leads the Lincoln Stars with 24 goals and is second with 44 points.
Kessel is first on the Waterloo Black Hawks with 11 goals and 30 points.
