The Banter between Tallon and Foley will be missed.
I hope they bring Billy Gardner back.

With the firing of the rest of the scouting group - does this mean we can go
back to expecting fine drafting like Everett Sanipass clones and such.....

I was not a fan of Mike Smith or the can I buy a vowel players he is so in
love with, but, we also went from 96 or so to around 2000 with the worst
drafting record in any modern sport. When was the last time we got 2 good
players from one draft class, let alone 4 good players from 4-5 years in a
row? It has been a LONG TIME since we got a Savard, Larmer, Bannerman,
Belfour, Doug Wilson, Troy Murray type of grouping. That is how you get a
team built and can deal for veterans help as well. Besides the last 3 or so
years worth of players we have had Roenick, Hasek, JP Dumont, Daze since
mid-late 80's ....... can someone help me with a name, any name we actually
drafted that we or someone else might want from that period????? That covers
about 11-13 years of futility by Pulford and his henchmen - including Dale
Tallon during that time.

Also this weeks Crain's Chicago business article is a good read. I gave up
Dollar Bill's "Season Reservations" long ago since I saw no point in backing
them, they now pay for radio coverage and average about 30,000 or so fans
per TV broadcast. This organization is going no where fast. As they said in
Slap Shot - let em know your there. If you can't beat 'em, BEAT 'EM hockey
cannot be far away. Maybe Wayne Van Drop can come out of retirement or Behn
Wilson. Bill Gardner is more than welcome back, at center or on TV/Radio.

Why did the team fire Marshall Johnston? This guy had a proven
scouting record and was a more than able GM of the Ottawa Senators
recently. Hard to imagine he was a Smith lackey (he probably was a
better GM than Smith himself). Maybe the should have promoted him
instead.

Oh yes, let's have more Euro players who have no passion skate around
and live off their "potential" to score some goals, but never will. If no
one is going to score, I'd rather watch muckers and grinders because at
least that provides some entertaiment.

Nothing personal, but this was the first line of my original post to this in
this stream:
"I was not a fan of Mike Smith or the can I buy a vowel players he is so in
love with, but, we also went from 86 or so to around 2000 with the worst
drafting record in any modern sport."

I corrected 96 to 86 which is what I originally intended to type. I like
muckers and grinders too, but 20 of them on the same team is a bit too
many..... :}
At least we won last night and actually have fans posting here!
