Torterella fired!!
I didn't like him much at first, but today is a sad day in Lightning
history. It's not his fault that Jay Feaster is a complete moron in the
front office. All the blunders he's made as the Bolts GM has cost a good
coach his job. I really hope that Koules isn't as dumb as he's appearing to
be at this point. IMHO,
Barry Melrose will not be a good fit for this franchise, and Feaster needs
to go as well.

PS, I know I'm talking to the ghosts of season's past, but I had to vent

I still check the forum out, FWIW. I think this was a collaborative
effort between Feaster and Torts. Feaster may not have gotten the best
players for the money he had to work with (we won't know until another
GM has to try it under similar constraints), but it's the coach's job
to get the best out of what he has to work with and IMO with the
players on last year's roster we should not have been a dead last place
team.

Didn't help that he publicly blasted old ownership, publicly blasted
new ownership, essentially resigned at his exit interview, then
un-resigned and went to the media and aired dirty laundry. Not many
employers going to keep someone around who does that, I wouldn't think.

Great coach, no question. Just not the *right* one for this franchise
any longer.

Jeez, I didn't expect anyone to reply to my post. One thing I'll never
understand is the contract Feaster gave to Richards, basically crippling the
team financially. With Brad, Marty and Vinnie's contracts, the Bolts were
handcuffed in going after a big time goal tender. Letting Modin go was
another thing I disliked about Feaster, and for what, Marc Denis? One of the
worst trades ever. Torts was his own man, and ruffled feathers no doubt,
but, he was given a raw deal.
